PTTREATMENTSFORCOREBUILDINGAND IMPROVEDBALANCE: Corestrengthcanbeimproveduponwithoutpricygymequipment.Manyphysical therapistswill recommendasimpleandquickexerciseknownasthe “drawinginmaneuver.” Toaccomplishthisexercise,beginbystandingupstraightwithyourhipsinlinewiththerestofyour body.Suckinyourstomach,asifyouweredrawingyourbellybuttonintowardyourspine.Then, walkaroundwithyourbellybuttonstilldrawnin. Ideally,yourcoremusclesshouldbestrongenoughtoholdthatpositionforatleast30seconds. However,ifyouareoutofshape,youmayhavetobuilduptothistime.Thisshouldbeapainless exercise,soifyounoticeanypainwhileperformingit,makesureyoustopimmediately.Onceyour corebeginstobuildmoremuscle,yourphysicaltherapistwillmoveyouontomoredifficult exercises,suchasyoga,planks,orbridges.
