  3. What is PBIS? PBIS is: • a positive behavior management process to create safer and more effective schools • a system of clear school-wide expectations with consequences and incentives

  4. What is PBIS Continued… • intervention when you need help • recognition and celebration for your successes

  5. What does PBIS do for you? • Students are recognized and praised for positive behaviors • opportunities to participate in special events, school supplies, materials, etc.

What does PBIS do for you? • Students are recognized and praised for positive behaviors • opportunities to participate in special events, school supplies, materials, etc. • Students receive interventions to help them refocus their unsuccessful behaviors • teacher-student conference, parent contact, reflections, parent conference, administrative referral

  7. How Does PBIS Work? • All students follow the same set of rules and expectations throughout all areas in the building • These rules and expectations are displayed as a matrix, which is posted throughout the school

  8. How Does PBIS Work? • When students follow the rules and expectations, they are recognized • When students do not follow the rules, we have planned interventions and consequences to help them refocus

  9. What is a“ROAR Point”?

  10. ROAR Points continued… Students are responsible for keeping up with their own points!

  11. How can you earn “ROAR Points”? When consistent, students will be recognized for appropriate behaviors such as: • Demonstrating Core Essentials character traits • Following ALL posted ROAR expectations • speaking in an appropriate tone of voice • walking silently on the right side of the hallway • waiting patiently & silently in line in the cafeteria • entering and exiting the bus appropriately • using outside equipment appropriately

  12. Who awards students with “ROAR Points”? All staff including: • teachers • substitute teachers • counselors • main office/media center staff • bus drivers • cafeteria staff • custodians

  13. Where will students spend their ROAR Points? • Cashed in once per nine weeks • Items priced according to value • An order form will be sent out once per nine weeks

  14. Some examples are: Talent Show Pep Rallies School Dances Club Performances ROAR Cards (character coupons) Academic Celebrations Lion Link Class Celebrations Spirit Days Bus of the Month Student of the Month Reading Renaissance Team/Pride Activities As a School We Will Celebrate With Several Events for Everyone!
