  7. P Rules P P • Be prompt. You are expected to arrive in class and begin working prior to the sounding of the bell. You begin class, not the bell. • Be prepared. You are expected to arrive in class with all necessary materials each day. You will not be allowed to return to your locker for textbook , notebook, paper or pencil. Bring all materials each day to class. P P

  8. P Rules P P • Be polite. You are expected to demonstrate respect for yourself and others. This includes school property. • Be productive. You are expected to work during the entire class period, completing all the class assignments in class. P P

  10. Ms. Brooks Classroom Procedures

  11. After Returning from Absence • Check the Classnotes book or from a partner for what we did in class. • Look for missed work behind each dated sheet. • Remember you have 5 days to complete missed work. • It is your responsibility to get makeup work completed.

  12. Food and Drink • All drinks must have a lid on them. • Trash must be disposed of at the end of class. • If you make a mess you must clean it up. • This is not a right, it is a privilege. You abuse it… you lose it.

  13. Signal for Attention GIVE ME FIVE When the teacher raises their hand, raise yours and… • Eyes on the speaker • Quiet • Be still • Hands Free (put things down) • Listen

  14. Fire Emergency Plan • Exit classroom quickly and quietly. • Turn to the left and exit the building to the tennis courts. • Ms. Brooks will check the roll as soon as we are all gathered. • Wait quietly for more instructions. • You may leave your personal belongings in the room. Ms. Brooks will be the last to exit and will lock the door behind her.

  15. Heating and Air • Please do not complain! • Please do not interrupt instructional time to question the room temperature. • Ms. Brooks will control the temperature as necessary. • You may bring in a blanket and store it in the classroom.

  16. Windows • Please do not touch the windows or blinds. • Please do not interrupt instruction to comment on light or temperature. • Ms. Brooks will open and close blinds and windows as necessary.

  17. Computer Equipment Please do not touch and computer equipment without Ms. Brooks Permission. Thank you!

  18. Pencil Sharpener • You may sharpen pencils before class, during opening activity, or during transition time without asking permission. • Please do not rise and sharpen during any instruction time or performance.

  19. Dismissal at end of Period • Wait for Ms. Brooks to give instructions to pack up. • Please remain in your seat until after the bell. • Ms. Brooks will dismiss the class.

  20. Announcements • All talking and activity will pause. • Please direct your attention to the speaker or television and remain quiet.

  21. Language • Inappropriate language and conversation will not be tolerated in this classroom. It is against school policy! • This includes cursing, as well as conversation about drugs, alcohol, sex, guns, etc. • If you refuse to abide by this policy, you will be written up on a management form. Get the point?

  22. Turning in Assignments • Follow all teacher instructions when passing in assignments. • Be sure all loose papers are securely attached in your ISN. What falls out will not be graded. • Your name must be in the top right hand corner of the assignment.

  23. Visitors and Guest Speakers • Please be quiet, polite and respectful. • Remember, you are a direct representation of Hunter Huss and of my class.

  24. Bathroom • You may have two bathroom passes each six weeks. • You may not go to the restroom during the first 30 minutes and the last 30 minutes of class. • Bathroom visits may not last any longer than 5 minutes. • You must use the restroom on E hall. • Sign the front of your two Restroom Coupons.

  25. Tardy • You must sign in (Name, Date, Offense, Contact Number) on the tardy clipboard located by the door. • Name will be recorded on the board, and you must serve your time within 5 days. • If time is not served, you will be referred to the office.

Cell phones, MP3 players, Gaming Devices… • Absolutely none, nada, zero, zilch, I don’t care if it’s you momma calling you are allowed in class! • If I see them… • Student will surrender the device until the end of class. Parent contact. • Student will surrender the device until the end of the day. Parent contact. • Student will surrender the device and will have to pick it up from their principal. Parent contact.

  28. Consequences • You will receive a verbal warning • 15 minutes after school detention and parental contact • 30 minutes after school detention and office referral • You will be immediately sent to the office

What is LIFE? ? ? • This course is designed to increase financial literacy among high school juniors and seniors and prepare them to be successful managers of their personal, family, and environmental resources. Students learn to manage resources through authentic applications that are relevant to their lives --- e.g., spending plans, cost analyses, strategic career plans, comparison shopping, individual and family scenarios, and product care demonstrations. ? ?

Planning Spending • Analyze factors to consider when spending. • Differentiate needs, wants, and types of resources. • Analyze values to set priorities and goals and make decisions. • Analyze steps in financial planning. • Interpret the rationale for creating a financial plan. • Implement steps in a planning process to aid in financial planning. • Organize a realistic spending plan.

  45. Materials • 3 Subject Spiral Notebook • Writing instruments – pen, pencil • Tape, scissors, glue, colored pencils

  47. What happens if I am absent? • If you are absent, it is your responsibility to get notes from the missed lecture. You are to come to me to see what other activities you may have missed.

  49. Cover • Personalize the cover to your notebook – so we know it’s yours. • Pictures, magazines, letters… make a collage that describes who you are. • Only thing I ask is that, bare minimum, it must have your name on it.

  50. Author Page • Create a page about yourself at the front of your notebooks. The author page could include a photograph and personal information such as age, height, favorite foods, what you like to do in your spare time, family members… • Personalizing the notebooks helps me get to know you a little better.
