  1. ADO-PO section meeting ADO : Atlas Detector Operation PO : Project Office R. Vuillermet

  2. Content of the meeting • Winter shut down activities and schedule (Michel) • Design office involvement during the winter shut down (Raphael) • Installation of EE chambers (Giancarlo) • Safety activities (Olga)

  3. Design office activities • 3 main activities • Provide the technical and engineering support for the ATLAS technical coordination • Provide the technical support for operation task (winter shut down) • Provide engineering support for upgrade activities development • Current resources in the design office : • Tatiana • Gevorg • Denis • Alexander • Giancarlo • Erik • Sebastien • Aboud • Wim • Marco • Dimitar • Raphael

  4. 1- Engineering support for ATLAS TC • JFC1 lifting tool (Denis, Dimitar, Raphael) • Company for fabrication was selected • Production drawings are under approval and cross check • Delivery by 15th of November at CERN to be used during the winter shutdown. • Organize and perform the load test at CERN as soon as the tool is delivered

  5. 1- Engineering support for ATLAS TC • ECT top platform (Wim) • Under fabrication in b108 to be available for this winter shutdownfor EE chambers installation.

  6. 1- Engineering support for ATLAS TC • EE chamber installation (Alexander, Erik, Giancarlo) • All support installed on C side and ready for installation • Tooling fabricated or under fabrication More information in Giancarlo’s presentation

  7. 1- Engineering support for ATLAS TC • Additional Shielding elements (Alexander, Tatiana, Giancarlo Spigo) • Installation of shielding elements on the End Cap Calorimeter and on the JD • Design finished • Under production (sub-contracting) to be ready for the end of the year

  8. 1- Engineering support for ATLAS TC • Access platform installation • Vacuum pump access platform in sector 13 (Alexandre, Tatiana, Raphael) • Fabrication done. • But modification shall be perform to adapt to the voussoir wings angle • Write installation procedure.

  9. 1- Engineering support for ATLAS TC • Bridge and Round scaffolding (Gevorg, Michel) • Definition of the safety exit in sector 1 and 9 • Definition of the round scaffolding extension • Definition of the bridge flooring and X stopper • Material ordered and received

  10. 1- Engineering support for ATLAS TC • Definition of a rail carrier (Gevorg, Raphael) • To ease and speed up the displacement of the rails inside the trench during the opening/closing operation • Design done • Order material and fabrication still to be done before the shut down.

  11. 2- Provide the technical support for operational tasks • Implication of our Design office during the winter shut down : • RPE • Giancarlo according to Giuseppe schedule • Safety shift, according to Olga’s schedule • Marco, Erik, Alexandre, Denis, Dimitar, Aboud, Wim, Tatiana • Opening/closing operation • Michel, Raphael with the help of Aboud, Marco, Dimitar, • Installation operation (EE chambers, platforms, shielding, etc.) • Michel, Aboud, Marco, Dimitar, Giancarlo, Raphael • Data taking activities for Design Office • Tatiana, Alexandre, Denis, Wim, Erik, Aboud • SLIMOS (in function of our availability and need) • Tatiana, Marco, Dimitar, Giancarlo, Aboud (to be trained), Raphael

  12. 3- Upgrade activities • Verification and measurement activities (Erik, Raphael, Tatiana, Aboud, Marco) • The purpose of this work : • Verify real distances and available volume to validate CAD models and current design in particular for : • The Optobox size and localisation • The services routing (electrical, cooling, signal) • The tooling movement inside the Barrel toroid • Project involved : • nSQP • IBL • Visitor cage • Shielding • Small Wheel • Access platform • Service rooting • Preparation for the upgrade phase 1 opening • Etc. • It is important to list all thess tasks before the winter shut down to be sure not to forget anything. You will be invited to make such a list.

  13. 3- Upgrade activities • IBL mock-up construction and exploitation (Francisco, Louis, Marco, Erik, Raphael) • Good progress on the mock up construction and installation of the tooling. • Test of the different tooling (from Grenoble, Brandeis and Seattle) is starting now and will last until the end of the year to give a feed back to the ATLAS management on the feasibility of in-situ extraction. • This activity will run in parallel to the winter shut down

  14. 3- Upgrade activities • Design, prototyping, fabrication and test shall continue during the winter shut down to be in time with the project schedule • nSQP (Sebastien, Erik) • Optoboard and services routing • Sealing barrier • Etc. • IBL (Marco, Aboud, Denis, Raphael) • Test on the tooling for the extraction/insertion in-situ (mock up) • Start the engineering work on the tooling required for the surface integration • Develop the sealing rings • Integration of the services around the beam pipe with their various supports • Design, prototype and test the z stopper on the IST • Perform the CAD integration work.
