  3. Overview of Territory Germany/Austria – ca. 170 employees ( 18 enterprise SE, 4 channel SE ) 5 VRTS offices (Munich, Duesseldorf, Wiesbaden, Hamburg, Vienna) Primary industries: automotive, financial, telco, manufacturing Key customers: Vodafone, T-Online, BMW, H3G, Dresdner Bank, Commerzbank, HypoVereinsbank, Audi, Siemens, BfA, Amadeus Data Processing Competitors: Sun, HP, IBM

  4. Strengths • Hardware Independence • Market Share • Same administration across OSes • Reference across most sectors • Partners – HDS, IBM, HP, SUN - all 1st level • Resellers & Partners in all major cities • Training facilities • Cross Platform Support (?) • Tight integration with our other products, esp. with DR solutions (VVR, GCM). Good story to tell customers.

  5. Weaknesses • PRICE • Release dates for Windows products not in line with Microsoft • Limited numbers of VCS Enterprise agent on windows • Roadmap divergence/delay across platforms (esp. HP) • We’re still considered a Solaris company (and prove it…) • VERIATS is a backup company (customers opinion)

  6. Opportunities - Linux market - Integration with CC Availability

  7. Threats • Hardware vendors sells hardware and give software for free • Bundled “free” functionality in the OS - some (big) customers are in danger of getting “deadlocked” with the HCLs from all their different vendors (storage – switch – server –VRTS) in a heterogeneous environment (e.g. BMW) (Windows)

  8. Wins • AUSTRIA TOLL COLLECT • SUN CLUSTER, CFS FOR RACOnly four of twelve clusters got implemented with VCS • Amadeus Data Processing (VCS, SFORA/RAC) • Competition: OS specific cluster (MC/SG, HACMP) • Cross-platform support • CDP as an enhancement

  9. Losses • AUSTRIA TOLL COLLECT • SUN AND HP CLUSTER, PRICE

  10. Top 10 • Oracle agent for VCS on windows • LotusNotes agent for VCS on windows • Faster Java GUI • Support for DLM/KVS in a cluster environment • Faster support for new hardware and OS versions • Feature parity across all platforms • Itanium support • Extended HCLs
