  2. Stanley Milgram’s (1974) • Milgram experiment focuses on obedience to authority that how people behave under different situational and personal factors. Milgram experiment was related to learning by electric shocks.

  3. Experiment on obedience • Milgram students predicted that less than 3% of people would be giving electric shocks where as in reality almost 65% people have given full 450 volts shock.

  4. Factors involved in obedience • Situational factors • Demand characteristic • Agentic state • Personal factors • High self-esteem • Need for social approval

  5. Findings and attributions • Milgram is pessimistic in his findings • His findings have common grounds with Nazi Germany • Attribution error
