  2. The school year • Start: 1th of September • Our vacations: autumn vacation, Christmas holiday, crocus, Easter, Summer holidays • End: 31th of June

  3. The academic year • Start: between 1 September and 1 October • The academic year ends on the day before the start of the next academic year

  4. Structure of education • Elementary education: • Kindergarten or nursery education • Primary education • Secondary education • College of higher education • University

  5. Nursery education or kindergarten • It is a preschool where the children get prepared for primary school. • 2,5 - 3 till 6 year old • 3 years

  6. Primaryeducation • 6 – 12 year old • 6 classes divided by age • At the end of each semester the children have to pass some tests? • At the end of each year the children have to content proposed goals /targets of the curriculum.

  7. Secondaryeducation • 12 – 18 year • 6 or 7 years, 4 stages • ASO, TSO, BSO, KSO, BuSO General, technical, vocational, art, special education

  8. College and university • Colleges of higher education: • Professional bachelor • Bachelor following bachelor • University: • Academical bachelor + master • After professional bachelor: bridge course + master • Master following master • Doctor
