  2. Goals and Objectives of this Training Participants will: Become more familiar with the Common Core Standards (CCSS). Unpacking the common core standards. GOALS

Implementing the Common Core State Standards requires… • Unpacking the standards and understanding what is contained within each one. • Developing clear learning goals or objectives. • Shifting students’ focus from “answer getting” to solving problems and critical thinking. • Exposing students to a large variety of complex texts in ALL subject areas. • Connecting the standard topics to the prior knowledge of students. • Establishing the classroom environment as a community of learners.

  4. Steps to Unpacking a Standard

  5. Title and Content Layout with List 7.RP.3 Use proportional relationships to solve multistep ratio and percent problems. Examples: simple interest, tax, markups and markdowns,gratuities and commissions, fees, percent increase and decrease, percent error. Proportional relationships, Ratio, Percent Solve problems with multiple steps Word problem scenarios/tasks Conversion of fractions-decimals-percents Real-world application projects Solve one-step equations Game Stop buys video games for $10. The store increases the price 300%? What is the price of the video game? Cross Curricular connections - economics, personal finance, reading strategies. 8.EE.5 6.RP.1, 6.RP.2, 6.RP.3
