  2. Discussion points: • Would Rigby and Gold agree or disagree about the novel? About the author? On what points? • Are Bronte and her character interchangeable? Where can we draw the (metaphorical) line between the two of them? • Why do you think that Gaskell “sanitized” Bronte? • How did Bronte intend for us to feel about Jane? About the other characters? • How does your knowledge of the content of either/both of these articles change your understanding of the novel?
