  9. Mathematics Curriculum GO MATH! will be our textbook series. • Instruction will focus on inquiry-based methodology. • Problem solving will be emphasized in all units. • All Pennsylvania Core Standards for Mathematics will be addressed. • Each student will receive “mini-books” for all units. Students can write in their consumable books. • There are online resources that can be used at home for additional practice and reinforcement (Study Island, Freckle, etc)

  13. Harcourt Storytown The Storytown series focuses on explicit, systematic instruction with a spiraled review of key skills. Student experience many opportunities for practice and the application of concepts. In addition, a series of leveled activities and resource materials exist to meet the varied needs of learners. Sample skills that are developed through these resources include: Various types of literature Robust Vocabulary Comprehension (Focus Skills and Focus Strategies) Fluency, Accuracy, and Reading Rate Grammar and Writing Use of Dictionary and Reference Sources (on-line)

  14. Text Dependent Analysis (TDA) Require students to provide evidence from the text and to draw inferences based on what the text says in order to support an analysis

Science Four Science Units • Life Science • Earth Science • Physical Science • Space and Technology • Experiments • Quizzes and tests - Study guides; study skills; essay questions • Research projects (Power Point, Ipad Project) • NO on-line book • Make-up Work (clear expectations) • Pull-outs and absences

  20. T-shirt project The fourth graders will participate in a tie-dye project. Please complete the form and send in a check for $10 to Bradford Woods Elementary School. Some homerooms have already received the letter. We will be asking for volunteers for this event. The date will be announced. You must have your clearances. Check the district web page for information.

Band, Chorus, & Orchestra Rehearsals • Elective classes - not required • Students who are not at a rehearsal will be… • participating in extension/remediation activities • working on special projects • will NOT be scheduled for study hall-like periods Band and Orchestra students need to bring their instrument and music every week. Chorus students need to bring their music every week. • Band (Mr. Klicker)– Ensemble Monday • Chorus (Mr. Schmidt) – Tuesday • Orchestra (Mrs. Semanco) – Ensemble Monday • Band and Orchestra Lessons – Monday through Friday

Homework and Behavior Procedures Homework • Requests (per handbook) • Communication with parents after three missed assignments (email, phone call or note home) • Points for completion of homework • Missed homework – recorded using QR code Behavior • Scan per misbehavior – completion of behavior report form • Two scans in one day will prompt an email/phone call home • Five scans in one week will prompt an email/phone call home
