  1. New Resolution for theInternet of Things (IoT) Bruce A. Gracie ISACC

  2. RATIONALE • Work on the network aspects of identification systems has expanded to include Ubiquitous Sensor Network (USN) • It was agreed at the TSAG meeting in February 2011 to change the name of the Joint Coordination Activity on Network Aspects of Identification Systems (including RFID) • The new name is the “Joint Coordination Activity on Internet of Things” (JCA-IoT) to reflect the evolving scope

  3. RATIONALE • The JCA-IoT is scoped to coordinate work associated with the identification of things (including tag-based identification), and USN work including networking and service aspects of sensor information • ISACC proposes the creation of a new GSC Resolution on “Internet of Things” to reflect the evolving scope of this work

  4. PROPOSAL • GSC16-PLEN-06 contains draft text for a new Resolution on IoT that uses existing Resolution GSC-15/03 as a basis for the expanded text • ISACC invites GSC-16 to approve the proposed new Resolution on IoT; upon approval, Resolution GSC-15/03 should be withdrawn
