  1. SOSC 188Review for the First Exam What is similar in the Final Exam: same format (short essays, long essay) What is different in the Final Exam: • Time (now 3 hours) • Answer more questions (4 short, 2 long) • Start at 8.30 a.m. on May 22 (Monday) at 2407

  2. What’s included in the Exam? • Lecture materials --get the lecture outlines from the web • Readings -- Chapters 1-8, 10 in East Asia and the World Economy • Pay special attention to those readings overlap with lecture materials

  3. How to prepare before the Exam? • Can’t just focus on either pre-1945 or post-1945 period • Try to answer the questions before the exam • Form a discussion group with your friends share your notes and viewpoints learn from one another • Talk to Anita and me -- I will be in my office (Room 3380) in the next three days (Thur, Fri, Sat), feel free to come to talk to me or call me

  4. During the Exam, pay attention to the following: • Read the questions very carefully Answer all the questions, don’t miss any part • Give clear and organized answer • Provide your own examples and avoid making contradictory arguments

  5. Grading • Final grade = First exam + second exam + the quiz you take • Grade on an absolute point, e.g., 135 and above (A-, A, A+) 120-134 (B-, B, B+) 105-119 (C-, C, C+) 90-104 (D-, D, D+) below 90 (F)

  6. Grading • The final exam is going to be decisive • For students in the marginal, I’ll re-read your final exam
