  5. enquiring … he said to them,“What are you discussingas you walk along?” Luke 24.17

  6. … and listening “ … but we had hopedthat he was the oneto redeem Israel” Luke 24.21

  7. telling the story … beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he interpreted to them the things about himself in all the scriptures Luke 24.27

  8. … the light of hope “Were not our hearts burning within us while he was talking to us on the road?” Luke 24.32

  9. hospitality … they urged him strongly,stay with usbecause the day isalmost over Luke 24.29

  10. … and companionship When he was at table with them, he took bread, blessed it and broke it, and gave it to them. Luke 24.30

  11. realisation … Then their eyes were openedand they recognised him Luke 24.31

  12. … and faith and he vanished from their sight. Luke 24.31

  13. a community of joy … That same hourthey got upand returned to Jerusalem Luke 24.33

  14. … and witness They told what had happened on the road, and how he had been made knownto them in the breaking of the bread Luke 24.35
