  2. Why do Thai Gov. and NGOs work closelyin GHS ? • 1st National Strategic Plan for Chemical Man. (1997-2001) • 2nd Plan => Network • 3rd Plan => GHS, CMS (upstream and downstream)

  3. GHS Activities in Thailand • Task I : Set-up GHS committee & implementing system under CMS • Task II: Strengthen members and involving organizations through training and TOT

  4. GHS Activities in Thailand (cont.) • Task III: Prepare education tools and materials for raising awareness in key prayers • Task IV: Disseminate and campaign to target groups

  5. Task I: Set-up the GHS committee and implementing system under CMS Committee • More than 5 NGOs be members of CMS committee and sub-committee (GHS) • NGOs involve in developing National Roadmap

  6. Task I: Set-up the GHS committee and implementing system under CMS Committee (Cont.) • NGOs join to process of setting regulations, designing the appropriate label, dissemination • NGOs involved in select the priority product (we start on 10 groups of hazardous products for household and public health uses)

  7. Task II: Strengthen members and involving organizations through training and TOT • NGOs joined with the Nation seminar on “Strengthening the Role of Business/Industry and Public Interest/Labour Organization in GHS Implementation” Aug. 2006

  8. Task III: Prepare education tools and materials for raising awareness in key prayers • Involve in survey of the appropriate GHS label in target groups

  9. Task IV : Disseminate and campaign to target groups • Disseminate the education to consumer, agriculture, worker • Campaign for green consumer movement

  10. Plan for next two years • work with Gov. to build young inspectors • integrate GHS to formal education (like energy and env.)

  11. Monitor the progress work of Gov. and business sector in GHS implementation Other activities (about GHS)

  12. Other activities (beyond GHS but about che. mag.) • Study the situation of CMS for preparing 3rd Plan • Setting the standard for VOCs and its use and reporting system • Effect of tributyl tin (TBT) and how to control using

  13. Other activities (beyond GHS but about che. mag.) • Promote organic farming • Protection and rehabilitation of health and environment from chemical hazard • etc.

  14. Challenge How can NGOs educate consumer understand well for GHS
