Naming Things • Tridium vs Vykon vs Niagara vs Mach2 • Tridium is the name of the company • Vykon is the brand name under which Niagara is sold as a package • Niagara is the product name - it exists as other names under other companies/brands • Like Mach2. Mach2 is the Kors Engineering product that has extended the Niagara product specifically for Machine interaction and integration • Platform vs Station • The Platform is the underlying Niagara engine that allows you to run as station • The station is the running application, developed by Kors and our customers • Thick vs Thin • There are multiple ways to access a running Niagara station • As an end user with access only to runtime features using any modern web browser • As a developer with almost full access using a legacy web browser with a JRE • As a developer with almost full using the “Java Web Start” or newer “Niagara Web Launcher” • As a developer with full access using Workplace MACH2 www.WeSpeakMachine.com Brochure Screens Confidential

The Life and Death of the Java Browser Plugin • Classic PleXML (Niagara 3.X) • Until 5 years ago, all browsers had a Java Plugin • Development and even end user use of the Plugin was normal • Because of the prevalence of Java Plugin, HTML functionality limited • Current Mach2 (Niagara 4.x) • All current browsers explicitly exclude a Java Plugin • Everyone thought JWS was the answer until Oracle flexed its muscles • Development on other PCs requires an application • The Good News • Client PCs don’t need Java anymore • Developer license included in Niagara 4 MACH2 www.WeSpeakMachine.com
