  6. 2019 FSAA FSAA-Performance Task Overview • Administered to each student individually by the student’s teacher, a certified teacher, or other licensed professional who has worked extensively with the student and is trained in the assessment procedures. Highly recommended to use student’s teacher. • Designed to show student mastery of Florida Standards Access Points • Students typically select an answer to a question from three response options represented by pictures, text, numbers, and/or symbols • Students use their primary mode of communication

Assessment Participation Checklist Who should be assessed with the FSAA? • Individual IEP teams are responsible for determining whether students with disabilities will be assessed through administration of the general statewide standardized assessment or the FSAA • IEP teams will use the Assessment Participation Checklist to make this determination

  12. Accountability & Learning Gains • Learning gains are calculated based on the assessment, not exceptionality. • Achievement Calculation - Students who score at Achievement Level 3 or higher on the FSAA are included as passing in the achievement calculation.

Learning Gains • Students who increase an achievement level from the prior year to the current year in the same subject area. • Students who scored an Achievement Level 1 or 2 in the prior year and scored in the same achievement level in the current year: • Split Level 1 into 3 subcategories and Level 2 into 2 subcategories. • Students must increase at least one subcategory to demonstrate a learning gain. • Students who scored in an Achievement Level 3 in the prior year and scored in the same achievement level in the current year: • Split Level 3 into 2 subcategories. • Students must maintain the same subcategory or move from a low-Level 3 to a high-Level 3 to demonstrate a learning gain. • Students who scored at Achievement Level 4 in the prior year and maintain the same achievement level in the current year.

Current Juniors and Seniors • Current Seniors 2015-2016 Cohort • 2015-16 Baseline Year – no scores were available for the 9th grade ELA • Students should have taken the FSAA ELA 2 in 10th grade/ALG1 EOC in 10th/11th grade during 2016-17 or later – NOT in 9th grade • Students that DID NOT take assessment ELA 10th/ALG1 EOC and are current seniors must take assessment • Admin/SLC will receive report of who was tested • Compare to current seniors, and • Order assessment materials for students that need to take assessment • Once scores are received for these seniors; • If student obtains achievement level of 3+ - they met requirement • If student DID NOT obtain achievement level of 3+ and qualify for waiver, then an Interim IEP must be convened and waiver MUST be processed before August 1st. • Current Juniors – Check SPI for scores • If scores are missing, order assessment materials

Waivers - Eligibility • The student must be identified as a student with a disability as defined in s. 1007.02, FS: • The term "student with a disability" means a student who is documented as having an intellectual disability, a hearing impairment, including deafness; a speech or language impairment; a visual impairment, including blindness; an emotional or behavioral disability; an orthopedic or other health impairment; an autism spectrum disorder; a traumatic brain injury; or a specific learning disability, including, but not limited to dyslexia, dyscalculia, or developmental aphasia • The student must have an individual education plan (IEP). • The student must have taken the statewide, standardized assessment with appropriate allowable accommodations at least once. • The IEP team must make a determination of whether a statewide, standardized assessment accurately measures the student’s abilities, taking into consideration all allowable accommodations for students with disabilities • The IEP team may meet at any time to verify that the criteria have been met and document the team’s determination and information analyzed in making the decision. • The documentation for the assessment waiver is to be completed on ESE-EMS

  32. 2018-2019 FSAA-PT Resources FSAA Online System Training • Module 4: Submitting Student Responses Administration Training • Module 1: Assessment Overview • Module 2: Administration Procedures • Module 3: Before, During, and After Administration 1 2 3 4 • Available Early-Mid February 2018 Test Administrators were required to attend a face-to-face training

Test Administration - Teachers • Teachers of students who will participate in the FSAA-Performance Task during the 2018-2019 school year were required to attend a one-day Mandatory Face-to-Face FSAA Administration Training session between 2015-2019. A list of teachers trained Face-to-Face was provided to SLCs for compliance. • Teachers that attended the one-day training session during this school year must also complete FSAA Training Module 4 which is available online at https://fsaa-training.onlinehelp.measuredprogress.org/performance-task-teacher-resources/ • Teachers who previously attended the one-day FSAA Administration Training (2015-2018) are required to complete all four online administration training modules on a yearly basis, if they will administer the FSAA.  The online administration training modules are available at https://fsaa-training.onlinehelp.measuredprogress.org/performance-task-teacher-resources/ • Teachers who have not completed the required trainingwill not be permitted to administer the assessment.

School Level Coordinators (SLC) • School Level Coordinators are also required to complete online modules available at https://fsaa-training.onlinehelp.measuredprogress.org/performance-task-aac-district-trainer-resources/ These tutorials will focus on the School Level Coordinators’ responsibilities related to the FSAA Online System. • SLCs are also required to attend the Test Procedures Meeting.

Sequence of Administration • Elementary , Middle School, and EOCs • Teachers may use their discretion and administer content areas in the order that is best for the student • For example, a teacher may choose to administer Science before ELA • Teachers MUST administer all sessions within a content area in the sameorder they are presented in the Test Booklet • For example, Session 1 must be completed before Session 2 and 3

Writing Prompt Design • Writing prompts are designed to assess a students ability to compose a product in response to text • All students in grades 4-10 are presented with: • A selected response writing item set consisting of five questions (Writing Prompt 1) • An open-response item (Writing Prompt 2)

Test Security – Test Administrator • Security of all test materials must be maintained before, during, and after test administration • Students are not permitted to handle secure material before or after administration • A security number is used to account for each secure document • Refer to the most recent 2019 Florida Standards Alternate Assessment Procedural Manual posted on the FLDOE Web site

Teacher Preparation Before Administration • Assure you have completed the appropriate training • Read the Required Test Administration Manual • Read, sign and return Test Administration and Security Agreement • Verify all materials are received • Ensure testing materials/components are for the same form • Read the Test Booklet and Highlight Teacher Scripts • Organize cutouts • Refer to the Grade Specific Vocabulary List • Obtain the “Teacher-Gathered” materials required as per test booklet

  44. page55 Teacher Preparation Before Administration • Teachers should consider: • How will he/she access the assessment tasks? • What accommodations and support will be needed? • Does he/she utilize assistive technology? • How will I evaluate student engagement? • What is an appropriate wait time for this student to respond? • When and where does this student engage best?

During Administration • Accurate administration is important • Teachers must record student responses in the Test Booklet while administering the assessment. • Account for necessary materials • Security is paramount • All assessment materials are secure and must be returned to the designated secure area or locked storage room between administrations.
