  6. هيئة الطاقه الذريــة الأردنيـــة Jordan Atomic Energy Commission Main activities of the project • The Preliminary Safety Analysis Report (PSAR) has been submitted to JNRC on July 31, 2011. JNRC has thoroughly reviewed the PSAR and recently announced that there are no major concerns that jeopardize the safety of the reactor • Construction of the Nuclear Research and Training Center (NRTC) has started in March 2011 • Site excavation started in March 2012 • The NRTC was attacked by a misinformed group of people on July 12, 2012 • Metrological Tower has been put in operation in August 2012 • Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) investigation has started in November 2012. Expected to be concluded in February 2013 • Construction Permit by the Jordanian Nuclear Regulatory Commission (JNRC) is expected by March 2013 based on two Limited Work Authorizations (LWA) that have been issued (Feb. 2012 and Nov. 2012) • An agreement with a Consortium of Consultant Services (NucAdvisor) has been signed in September 2013 to advise JAEC in the construction and operation of JRTR • First Concrete work (Basemat concrete) is expected in early February 2013 Khalifeh AbuSaleem JRTR

  7. هيئة الطاقه الذريــة الأردنيـــة Jordan Atomic Energy Commission RTR will enable a large spectrum of activities governed in the following categorieS: • Education and training; • Research and development; • Production of medical and industrial radioisotopes (Iodine, Iridium, Molybdenum, …etc.) • Since the agreement with the KAERI-Daweoo Consortium (KDC) to construct JRTR The progress is estimated at 44%. • This progress can be categorized into three main activities: - Engineering Discipline where the achievement is around 84% - Procurement Discipline: 37%, and the - Construction Discipline: 21% Khalifeh AbuSaleem JRTR

Expected to be completed by April 2013. • Provides for 9+ first principle nuclear experiments for nuclear engineering students • Operation and staffing issues are under the auspices of Jordan University for Science and Technology (JUST) Khalifeh AbuSaleem JRTR
