  1. Advances in Urban Flood Prediction Presented by James Hale ,Technical Delivery Manager, Mouchel PIPELINE INDUSTRIES GUILD Eastern Branch 2008/09 Chairman Bryan Lamont Tuesday 17 February 2009 Thorpe Wood House Peterborough PE3 6WT Commencing at 6:00 pm (refreshments from 5:30 pm) Kindly Sponsored by:- About the paper We have all seen the devastation caused by flooding over recent years and the devastating impact on thousands of people, some of which are still yet to return to their homes. River flood levels and extents are able to be predicted in advance by the Environment Agency, allowing local flood defences to be installed. However the same cannot be said of urban flooding and in particular flooding from overloaded sewerage and surface water systems. Mouchel have developed a process that will enable the prediction of sewerage and surface water flooding in advance, allowing the pro-active management of flood waters and minimising customer impact. About the presenter James Hale is Mouchel’s Technical Delivery Manager for Wastewater within the Asset Management Central Division. His role includes wastewater modelling, assessment of urban flooding and innovation. He has been at the forefront of urban flood routing for many years. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Confirmation Form – please email to assist us with planning the refreshments!
