  1. In an effort to both further our impact with your students and increase the quality of programming you are receiving from Upstream Arts, we have created companion curriculum that we hope you'll find useful to use on the days we are not working with your students.    Each slide, which corresponds to the program week, contains activities that you and your students can do together to practice your new creative skills.   Our teaching artists will present the Call to Action at the end of every class as an activity to explore over the following week in between classes.  We have also included teacher tips in the notes section of the powerpoint, with the goal of providing you with variations for each activity - to help you better customize the activities for your students and their needs.   We have designed the Call to Actionslides to take a little or a lot of time.  You choose.     We hope you find this useful and welcome your feedback.   Please don't hesitate to call or email if you have any questions:   julie@upstreamarts.org  or Ph: 612.331.4584.   Or, simply connect with the teaching artists at your school.  Upstream Arts, 2011

  2. General Tips – apply to most activities • An Upstream Arts friend is anyone who is in Upstream Arts classes. • Find a time of day to link to the activity (the beginning of second hour, upon return from lunch, before releasing for the buses, etc) and make it a routine part of your day. • Try one of these as a calming activity if a student is feeling upset. • For timed activities, try using a timer. • Try using a scale from 1 to 5 for movement activities: 1 is the smallest, most subtle and 5 is the biggest, most obvious. • How does this activity make you feel?  Upstream Arts, 2011
