For this lesson vague rubrics worked…they don’t really

  4. Puppet Show • Summative Grading Level 3 Knowledge of Content-Demonstrate a significant knowledge of content Application of Knowledge-Apply knowledge and skills with significant effectiveness Use of planning skills-Use planning skills with considerable effectiveness

  5. Resource Critique • 1000 words • APA style for references • Choose a ‘resource’ you have used or seen used • From the professional literature can include course readings • Critique along the lines of…balance literacy, differentiation, ESL/ELD, boys literacy, learning skills…

  6. Professional Portfolio • This is an extension of our earlier portfolio project • You have a belief statement and now please add one other piece to each section (student work, your work, photo….) • You can have more than one person contribute to the portfolio

Double Loop Reflection (Individual) • Chris Argyris, Donald Schon (MIT), Gareth Morgan • If learning involves the detection and correction of error…Single loop learning corrects the error inside the current governing variables • Double loop learning questions the governing variables as a potential source of the error, as well • This is where you are showing me some ways you might evolve your craft…if only in theory! • Individuals will turn in a paper for this piece…

  10. Writing • The six writing traits are the key to instruction and assessment • Students will grow as writers if they write every day

  11. Oral Communication • Talking before writing and after writing • Break down what talking skills you would like the students to focus on for assessment • Public speaking takes practice

  12. The Arts • Is more than just creating! • Can be infused into the literacy block to provide the creative element, some fun and a break from sitting all day!

Look for… • Differentiation of the learning part-what are others doing to teach to different levels of readiness? • Variety of product-what choices are students given in how they present their knowledge • Accommodation of assessments (sometimes called differentiation of assessment)-how are students accommodated for in the assessments • Differences between formative and summative assessment techniques
