  3. The Golden Age of Athens: • Followed the Greek victory over Persian Empire and lasted 75 years (479-404 BCE) • Ideas in philosophy, education, art, and government flourished

  4. The Philosophers: • Socrates • Plato • Aristotle • All three had different methods, but each taught people how to reason = logical thinking

  5. Athens Falls to Sparta: • Greek city-states formed an alliance with Athens or Sparta • War broke out in 431 BCE = Peloponnesian War • Athens surrendered in 404 BCE
