  1. True Passion: Session Five,2 Samuel 11 and 12. What are some issues that keep us from having true passion? “True Passion” is that strong devotion to or ardent affection for Jesus, and that intense, driving, or overmastering conviction to serve His Kingdom.

To err is human, to forgive, divine • To err is human, to purr, feline. • To err is human, to do nothing, benign. • To err is human, to moo, bovine. • To err is human, to woo, Valentine. • To err is human, to quit, resign. • To err is human, to solve, design. • To err is human, to pretend, pantomime. • To err is human, to horrify, Frankenstein. • To err is human, to howl, lupine. • To err is human, to love, sublime.

  3. David, one of the central figures in scripture, fell into sin. • He was a man after God’s own heart but he was still just a man. • Confrontation is no longer an acceptable social practice. • Why is that?

  4. Do we fear being corrected? • Do we hate being wrong? • Do we hide behind a false sense of goodness not wanting to be found out?

  5. I. David’s Sin • The open window of temptation must be closed. • The consequences of sin can’t be predicted, but they must be calculated. • When times are good, temptation is greater.

Nathan’s Story • To be effective in confrontation, Chuck Swindoll suggests at least four things: absolutetruth, right timing, wise wording and fearless courage. • Self-realization is the best cure for sin. • A defensive response is normal, but not godly. • God does not wantexcuses but genuine repentance. • Remember Adam and Eve.

  7. III. Five True Passion Killers • 1. Misdirected emotions. • 2. Hypocritical motives. • 3. Sinful desires concerning money, power, prestige, possessions, fame, sexual immorality, family. • 4. Pride, ego, arrogance. • 5. Selfishness.

  8. Conclusion Confession, one to another, is good for true passion and brings healing.
