Why Lithium is used in Batteries

While other internal combustion engines derive energy from burning fuel, electric vehicles receive their power directly from a large battery assortment. These battery packs are similar to the lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery in your mobile device, except that electric vehicles never use a single capacitor like a phone. Instead, they use a pack composed of thousands of independent Li-ion cells that work together.
