What is Apache JMeter and Load Testing on a Web Server with Apache JMeter Apache JMeter is a powerful desktop application specially designed to functional behavior, load & performance test client/ server software. It is a complete Java based application so it has amazing features and capability for testing a web application against substantial, numerous and parallel user traffic. It also has the ability to load and performance test multiple server/protocol types. It helps a lot to increase performance, improve web application server setup & reduce obstacles. You can perform a successful test operation via testing tools of Apache JMeter such as test group, thread group, controllers & samplers etc. Uses of Apache JMeter:

Performance and availability testing.  Functionality testing of applications.  Monitoring database & web servers.  To evaluate overall performance of server under substantial load.  These are some important things you need to know before starting to use Apache JMeter Training: A computer to run JMeter in it, and a web server to load test.  You must have a computer with Oracle Java or OpenJDK (6 or later).  Running tests against your production servers could be harmful to your server.  Follow these steps to begin testing on Apache JMeter 1.Add a thread group to test the plan. 2.Set values to Number of threads (users) 50, Ramp-Up Period 10sec. & set Loop Count to 1 3.Add an HTTP request defaults from thread group. 4.Add HTTP cookie manager. 5.Add an HTTP request sampler. 6.Add a view results in Table Listener. 7.Run the basic test plan. 8.Interpret the Results. 9.Increase the Load. 10.Generate performance report. You can create test plans to quantify the performance of your servers in numerous circumstances. It can be used to test performance of dynamic resources like such as Servlets, JSP, AJAX and static as well as static resources such as HTML & JavaScript.
