  1. Calvary Baptist Church Welcome to the Sunday Evening Service

  2. Law of Liberty: The Great Omission

  3. The Great Omission • Luke 16: 16; • The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.

  4. The Great Omission • I. The Old Testament is a foretelling of God’s Salvation Message. • A. Seen in the sacrifices of animals; (Christ the Lamb of God) • B. The prophets foretold His coming; (Isaiah 53—Who hath believed…)

  5. The Great Omission • Luke 3: 3; • And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins; • II. John preached repentance to get saved. (Every man presseth into it)

  6. The Great Omission • Romans 16: 25-27; • [25] Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, • [26] But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith: • [27] To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen.

  7. The Great Omission • III. God commanded that this Salvation message be “made known to all nations”. • Note: God had already commanded believers to “go…and teach all nations”.

  8. The Great Omission • Matthew 28: 18-20; • [18] And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. • [19] Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: • [20] Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

  9. The Great Omission • Titus 1:1-3; • [1] Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness; • [2] In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began; • [3] But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;

  10. The Great Omission • IV. The apostles were serious about keeping this commandment:

  11. The Great Omission • Acts 28: 23-31; • [23] And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening. • [24] And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not…

  12. The Great Omission • Acts 28: 23-31; • …[30] And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him, • [31] Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.

  13. The Great Omission • Consider This: • Someone told you about the Gospel! • Will you tell others?

  14. The Great Omission • Romans 10: 9-11, 13-17; • [9] That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. • [10] For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. • [11] For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

  15. The Great Omission • Romans 10: 13-17; • [13] For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. • [14] How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? • [15] And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! • [16] But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? • [17] So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

  16. The Great Omission • John—Prepared • Jesus Christ—Prepaid • The Apostles—Propagated • The New Testament Church—Progressed • What’s Missing? The Great Omission
