  1. FACTORS BEHIND REDUCING COST OF LIVER TRANSPLANT Liver surgery is a medical complex process requiring great precision and efforts from both ends of the line. During a liver transplant, the diseased liver of the patient is surgically removed and replaced with a healthier one. The healthy liver needed for the transplant mostly comes from a donor that has died recently. The liver of a deceased patient needs to be transplanted quickly to retain proper functionalities and liver health. In very rare cases, a living patient may also provide a section of his/her liver for the needy patient. The section then grows back to its original size and efficiency within a month, thus aiding both donor and receiver end. A bad lifestyle mostly leads to liver cirrhosis, which is among the most common and widespread reasons leading to liver transplant. Cirrhosis is nothing but scarring of liver due to an internal injury or a long-term disease. These factors adversely affect liver health and result in prolonged suffering, even liver failure in worst cases. After undergoing a liver transplant patient essentially need to take inhibiting drugs to prevent the body from rejecting the new liver.

Liver transplant cost in India majorly deviates between a range of Rs. 12 lakhs to Rs. 20 lakhs, which is still the cheapest and most feasible in comparison to other countries. The high cost includes various other expenses other than surgery that involves medication and other preventive care following the liver transplant. Cost of liver transplant AILBS INDIA With continuous betterment in the medical field, the cost is decreasing down every year and is soon expected to come under the affordable bracket so that every needy patient can avail the opportunity. Current Cost of liver transplant seems high due to the additional costs that is added in the initial cost due to the involvement of two people, the donor and the receiver. Only the check up and preparation cost more than 10% of the total cost, after which the regular checkups and medication surge up the cost to a great number. These additional costs are decreasing with time and major initiatives from government and trust hospitals are making the scenario even better by providing literally free liver transplant in India.
