  1. How to Make Washing Soda from Baking Soda You might be familiar and probably would have heard the name of washing soda in your day to day laundry practice. It is one of the necessary components to make detergent powders and liquids. Washing soda is tasked with the removal of dirt and stubborn stains and thus cleaning the dirty laundry in the brightest possible manner. Talking scientifically, the chemical name of washing soda is sodium carbonate which is written as Na2CO3.Another name given to washing soda is soda ash. Soda ash connects with the water hardening particles and makes the water soft by eliminating such substances, helping the detergent to execute better cleansing. Washing soda is not only used in detergent industry, but also have a variety of other applications like preparation of baking soda and in the making of soda fire extinguishers. But have you ever wondered how they make washing soda, let’s check it how. Ingredients for Washing Soda: Baking soda A large baking dish or baking sheet (I use these stainless steel restaurant pans for this and all of my baking and cooking) An Oven Patience (and not even very much!)     Equipments for Washing Soda:

  2. Baking pan Spatula Microwave oven    Instructions for Washing Soda: 1. Set the temperature of the microwave oven to about 400-450 degree Fahrenheit. 400-450 degree Fahrenheit in Celsius scale is about 204.44 degree Celsius to 232.22 degree Celsius. 2. Take about 2-3 cups of baking soda and spread it uniformly across a baking pan. Proper care should be taken to the uniformity of washing soda to be spread on the baking pan; it is required for the best possible heating of the baking soda. Use spatula, if needed. 3. For the baking soda to convert into washing soda, the temperature of the baking soda needs to be about 400 degree Fahrenheit. So, accordingly set the time that is enough to heat the baking soda to 400 degree Fahrenheit. It is ideally set to about 1 hour. Problems may occur if the spread layer of the washing soda is much thicker or the oven cools down in the course of time.

  3. 4. At about the half time, take the baking pan out of the oven and stir the baking soda. This will help the unheated grains of the baking soda to get heated up. Thus, there would be no baking soda left within the baking pan after the complete conversion process has taken place. 5. After the baking soda has been heated upto 400 degree Fahrenheit, take the baking pan out of the oven.

  4. 6. Now, the baking soda has been converted into washing soda and it is ready to be used. 7. Store the baking soda in an air tight jar or container to avoid moisture attack on the washing soda.
