Jan. 11 – 1st reconciliation parent mtg. 6:00, co-op mtg. 7:00 Fri, Jan. 12 – no bus service • Math: • + solve problems by using a table • + review 2 digit addition and sub with • regrouping • Religion: • + importance of listening to God at mass • + practice act of contrition prayer • Science:/Social Studies: • + learn contributions and facts about Martin • Luther King Jr. and Ruby Bridges • Reading/Language Arts: • Story: The Quilt Story (p. 16 in book) • Skills: identify main topic and details • Writing: • begin new story in writer’s workshop • review using adjectives to make writing better • Spelling: • words with an “ow” sound as in sound • Phonics • vowel patterns n The parent reconciliation meeting next Thursday is only for a parent or parents of those making his/her first reconciliation. If your child is not making this sacrament this year, you do not have to attend. I wanted to clarify that because I know we have a few that aren’t catholic or didn’t attend PSR in first grade. I have issued each child a reading book . We will be using it each week for the second semester of school. The books will come home regularly so your child can practice the story. The second graders now have chrome books to use at school. Please send a pair of earbuds with your child as soon as you can so that he/she can work on them throughout the day without disturbing others. Label them with your child’s initials or send them in a ziploc bag with his/her name on the bag. Please do not send expensive headphones to school. Earbuds can be bought cheaply at most local discount stores.
