  2. What is Cholera? an acute, diarrheal illness caused by infection of the intestine with the bacterium Vibrio cholerae

  3. Symptoms! • watery diarrhea • vomiting • leg cramps

  4. Transmission A person may get cholera by drinking water or eating food contaminated with the cholera bacterium. In an epidemic, the source of the contamination is usually the feces of an infected person.

  5. Treatment! • Re-hydration • Can be treated most effectively by drinking fluids • In more serious cases, fluids need to be administered intravenously

Album Good Friday • The song Duffy’s Cut was originally written by Wally Page. • Wally, along with two other song writers, were commissioned to write music for RTE’s Hidden History Series on Duffy’s Cut. • It was first aired in 2007. • A friend of Wally’s, Christy Moore, then was recorded singing the song and it appears in his album Listen.
