1. Going…Beyond! At the end of last summer, I decided it was time to pursue other avenues when attempting to have my next manuscript publish. For one thing, I wanted to make sure that this time, my next book would be edited to the “T”. So I began to weigh my options. Loopingthrutime, Inc. would like to wish everyone a safe , fun and relaxing Summer! Things are just fine in 2009! Beyond the Loop is coming along splendidly! The first edited draft of the manuscript is complete, with editing of the second draft about to commence. I will be submitting a query to the publisher within the next few months to see if the manuscript will be considered for publication! Both The Civilization Loop and Recreant were loaded with unedited aspects of each book. Although the stories were not necessarily affected by this, it often times made the story difficult to read or follow. Like with any unedited blog, post, story, or book, even the most astute of writers would have a misspelling or two that they overlooked. That is why it is important to have a separate pair of eyes view an unpublished manuscript before it goes to print. Contrary to popular belief, a lot of publishers do minimal editing to a manuscript prior to publication, unless you’re willing to pay for it. Fortunately for me, I had a veteran of over 30 years experience with the editing process that was willing to take a stab. Joanne Thrift, my grandmother and former writer for the Anderson Independent Mail and former editor of The Home Towner took the reigns of helping me learn to edit my current manuscript, Beyond the Loop. I’ve learned a lot from her about the editing process. One thing editing with her did do was make me re-read the entire manuscript and find places where things could be reworded, errors in the story were present and basically rework whole sections if I had to. I also caught some errors she missed, but don’t tell her I said that. Love you Maw Maw! With this edition of the Loopingthrutime, Inc. newsletter, I have decided to give some answers to questions that have arisen over the past two years in regards to The Civilization Loop, news about Recreant , Pious and 8, as well as my blog spots! 2. Riddle me this…. I’m seeing something all right... Since so many have tried to accurately predict something in the month of May in some year, with no success whatsoever to this point, I thought it appropriate, in a bit of satirical commentary, to make the "End-Time" date of my book occur on May 5, 2012.  It was only after the fact that I found out while researching the Mayan Calendar that many believe that the Mayans suggested December 21, 2012.  OOPS!  So instead of revising and changing a date mentioned about 100,000 times in the story, I chose to have December 21 represent a change in mindset, enlightenment, a reason for the time travelers to make sure the paradox event never occurred.  Smooth, I'd say!  Like a baby's bottom!  Ha! Now, that having been said, there are some pretty interesting things that apply to May 5, 2012.  These are all purely coincidental and I came to these realizations AFTER having chosen May 5 as the date.  On the Mayan Calendar, May 5 is represented by the symbol Oc.  Oc is a "gateway" or "dog" for the Mayans, representing loyalty, faith and unconditional love.  But this also is represented by a God in human form that holds the mystery of times secrets.  Accordingly, Oc also stands for "...the foot that marks the very beginning, and end, of time."  I am not making that up!  Also, stumbling more into the bizarre, May 5 falls on a Saturday (the true end of the 7 day period when God created the Heavens and the Earth and rested), which happens to be the Samaritan Passover (May 4-6 2012).  Also, Oc are the first two letters in the name of October, a central character in the story and in the prequel/parallel story that will follow entitled Beyond the Loop.  Have you gotten chills yet?  What is more appropriate than to have a rogue time traveler assure that the world will end on a date that, even to the Mayans, represents both the beginning and end of time itself?  Remember, it's fiction, right? When you start to examine the story of The Civilization Loop, you will most likely ask yourself one thing:  What is the significance of 5 May 2012?  Everybody who is anybody is specifically pointing to December 21, 2012 as the "End-Time" or "Enlightenment" date.  That is a very good question to be asking, because in all honesty it was a complete goof on my part. You see, while writing the story, I wanted to poke a little fun at those men and women who for ages past have tried to predict future events.  How many of you have ever heard of the book 5/5/2000 by Richard W. Noone?  Probably a few of you, back before 2000, but not much since.  He wrote this book to catalog a vicious "polar shift" that would occur on 5 May 2000.  Essentially Los Angeles would become the South Pole, the poles would melt and chaos would ensue.  It never happened, for obvious reasons.  There may in fact be a lot of cold, frigid people in Los Angeles these days, but not because of the climate. The prophesier of prophesiers, Nostradamus, supposedly predicted a horrifying earthquake in May, 1988.  Again, Los Angeles was picked on to represent the city of damnation.  Again, NOTHING HAPPENED. Many others have tried different approaches to predicting some cataclysmic event in May, but other than Cinco De Mayo, nothing much has happened. 3 4

3. A New Journey Begins…. And the story continues… My blog spot! Recreant, Pious and 8, OH MY! Recreant was my ode to Horror Fiction! I love ghosts stories, stories of monsters, demons, goblins, and the supernatural. Although I love it, not so many others do. Recreant didn’t have nearly the success of that of The Civilization Loop, but I still felt the story was an intriguing one. For that reason I do intend to write a sequel to Recreant entitled Pious: The Recreant Ascension. Knowing full well that people tend to shy away from Horror, Pious, when it is completed, will be more Science Fiction, with a tiny bit of Horror to keep the connection stable to the first story. I had this intention all along when thinking up a sequel to Recreant, so it was no big break from what I had already been planning. For elements of a sequel to work, for those of you that read Recreant, Science Fiction is a necessity with the next story. Plus, it’s by far my favorite genre. In lieu of my love for writing, it should come as no surprise that I have an outline for the next story I intend to write after the Loopingthrutime Trilogy comes to a close. The next story will be called 8. It is the story of eight uniquely different people that come up with the exact same story. The eight people’s personas are as follows: an artist, a famous romance novelist, a Christian man, a Muslim daughter, a physics professor, a Catholic doomsayer, a Horror novelist, and an eighth unidentified author. The 8 “authors” have their manuscripts researched by a Private Investigator named Harvey, working for the CEO of the publishing house Caanbridge Publishing, which specializes mostly in scholarly works. What Harvey finds is a recurring theme throughout all 8 manuscripts that have yet to be published. They all involve a mum farmer who sets out to solve a theoretical physics enigma. This farmer succeeds and slowly strange events begin to occur in each story. These events have a profound effect on each individual writer, visibly shaking all and worrying both Harvey and Mr. Caanbridge himself that something much more foreboding could be about to take place. 8 will be classified as a Mystery/Suspense Thriller, that I hope you will all find intriguing and keep you guessing until the end. As of 2008, all current space shuttles in deployment will be retired from service with the final launch of the shuttle Discovery in 2010. Originally, in the story Recreant, Allie Hughes was set to drive a fire engine red Ford Mustang Shelby GT-500 with a white racing stripe down the center.
