SMART Boards (I) • How do we get funds? • Grant plan: • (1) Define your needs (vision, outcomes, responsibilities) • (2) Build a community of support • (3) Identify potential grants/fundraisers (note specific due dates) • (4) Develop a reporting plan (after successful grant)
Smartboards (II) • How do we get funds, continued? • Involve students (e.g., student council, student testimony): planning, executing fundraises & talking with school board/local businesses • Do not want to know how much time SMART Response Interactive systems will save on grading • Do want to know how much students like them and how it helps them learn • Expose community members (parent teacher conferences, school board meetings, etc)
SMART Boards (III) • Where do we get funds? • American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA): http://vault.smarttech.com/stimulus/ • Tech & Learning website: http://www.techlearning.com/index • ASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) Explorer: grants for technology tools to engage students in science and mathematics investigations. • NCTM (National Council of Teachers of Mathematics): Various grants to support math classrooms and integration of material (including Smart Board) • What are some other resources for new integration? • SMART Exchange: http://exchange.smarttech.com/index.html#tab=0
