Uttar Pradesh government exempts Electric Vehicles buyers in state from tax, registration fees • Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has decided to waive off road tax and registration fee on the purchase of Electric Vehicles (EVs) for three years from October 14, 2022, to promote electric vehicles. According to the Uttar Pradesh Electric Vehicle Manufacturing and Mobility Policy 2022, 100 percent tax exemption will be given on electric vehicles (EVs) sold and registered in Uttar Pradesh from October 14, 2022 to October 13, 2025. These include all two-wheelers, three-wheelers and four-wheelers, Strong Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV), Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV), Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) and Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV). Madhya Pradesh govt launches Ladli Bahna scheme • Madhya Pradesh Governmenton 5 March launched Ladli Bahna scheme under which each woman will be given one thousand rupees per month. • Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan inaugurated the process of filling application forms of Ladli Bahna Yojana in the presence of about one lakh women at Bhopal's Jamboree Maidan. • This scheme is being launched with the aim of increasing the economic independence of womenin the state, improving their health and nutritional status and increasing their influence on family decisions. www.vidyaguru.in / SSC, Bank & Gen. Mauganj became the 53rd district of Madhya Pradesh • Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced on March 4 to make Tehsil Mauganj of Rewa district the 53rd district of the state. Karnataka won the Santosh Trophy after 54 years by defeating Meghalaya • Karnataka won the Santosh Trophy for the first time in 54 years after sealing a commanding 3-2 win over Meghalaya in the final at the King Fahd International Stadium in the Saudi Arabia capital, Riyadhon 5 March. • This is the first trophy for Karnataka, having previously won four times as the princely state of Mysore after a gap of 54 years (after 1968–69). • Meghalaya's team reached the finals of this competition for the first time. www.vidyaguru.in / SSC, Bank & Gen. National Youth Parliament Festival • The 4th edition of the National Youth Parliament Festival (NYPF) began on 2 March 2023 at the Central Hall of Parliament, New Delhi. • The fourth edition of the National Youth Parliament Festival, 2023 was launched with the theme "Ideas for a Better Tomorrow: India for the World". Its objective is to strengthen democracy and enable the student community to understand the working of Parliament. RBI imposes Rs 3.06 Crore penalty on Amazon Pay (India) • Reserve Bank of India has imposed a penalty of Rs 3.06 crore on Amazon Pay (India) Private Limited for non-compliance of certain directions related to Prepaid Payment Instruments and Know Your Customer. • The penalty has been imposed in exercise of powers vested in RBI under section 30 of the Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2007. • It was found that Amazon Pay (India) was not complying with the directions issued by RBI on KYC requirements. www.vidyaguru.in / SSC, Bank & Gen. Health Ministry gets Porter Prize 2023 for Government's strategy in managing COVID-19 • The Union Health Ministry has been awarded the Porter Prize 2023 for successfully combating the COVID-19 crisis. • The award recognized the Government of India's strategy, approach and involvement of various stakeholders in the management of COVID-19, especially ASHA workers in the industry for making PPE kits. The prize was announced at “The India Dialog”, organized by Institute for Competitiveness (IFC) and US Asia Technology Management Center (USATMC) at Stanford University on February 23-24.
