Kolkata Metro becomes India's first metro train to run under river • On 12 April 2023, the Kolkata Metro reached Howrah from Kolkata through a river tunnel for the first time in India, carrying only officers and engineers. This tunnel is built across the Hooghly River. • Services on this route of Kolkata Metro will start from this year itself. Solar Energy Corporation of India gets 'Miniratna Category-I' status • Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) has been accorded the status of Miniratna Category-I Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) on10th April, 2023. • Its formal announcement has been issued by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India. What are the rules for a national party? • A party is granted the status of a national party based on fulfilling at least one of the three criteria. • First: The party must have secured at least 6% of the total votes in four or more states. • Second: The party must have won at least 2% of the total seats in the Lok Sabha (meaning 11 seats) from at least three states. According to the latest tiger census data in 2022, the number of tigers in India has increased to 3,167 • According to the latest tiger census data released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the number of tigers in India is set to reach 3,167 in 2022. This figure shows a significant increase from the previous census figures of 1,411 in 2006, 1,706 in 2010, 2,226 in 2014 and 2,967 in 2018.
