8/30/2011 6 MATH VOCABULARY digit – the symbols 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 used to write numbers. value – the amount something is worth, based on its place in the number. 5 1 3 5 0 0 expanded form – a way to write numbers that shows the value of each digit. difference – the answer you get when you subtract. The difference of six and two is four.
