  2. has the scientific, technical and operational expertise to develop, build and operate a Next Generation Neutron Source for Europe

  3. bringing the European Spallation Source to Yorkshire a world class science facility for a world class region Yorkshire Forward and the White Rose University Consortium (Universities of Leeds, Sheffield and York) in association withInnogy

  4. Burn Airfield covers an area of 2x2km2. The land secured for the ESS project is outlined in red. The site fulfills all ESS site criteria and is located in a geologically sound area. It has excellent road, rail, sea and air links. Western Europe’ largest coal powered power station, (4000MW) is 2km away and a further two 2000MW power stations are within 6km Within a 100km radius are 17 universities employing 3530 researchers in all fields of science directly relevant to exploitation of ESS.
