  2. Paper Hunt: Find a half-sheet of white paper that is laying around the classroom (windowsill, table). You need 1 piece BEFORE the bell. Personality and Self-Esteem

  3. Draw your self-portrait on your piece of paper. (Do your best! I don’t require out-of-this-world artistic talent. So you if you can’t draw…DO YOUR BEST!!) Draw some of your favorite activities in the background. On the back of your self-portrait, write the following: Self-portrait = Words to describe myself =

  4. Having a positive outlook is just one of the signs of good mental and emotional health. Others include the following: -Seeing yourself in positive ways. -Motivating yourself to achieve goals. -Understanding and coping with your feelings. -Focusing on your strengths. -Having a healthy sense of humor. -Bouncing back from disappointment. Pg. 21

  5. Your personality helps determine how you react to problems, new situations, and other events. Different people react in different ways to the same situation. Describe your personality. 4-5 words on the back of your self-portrait Pg. 21

  6. Your self-concept is how you see yourself as the unique person you are. A positive self-concept is an important part of good mental and emotional health. Pg. 21

  7. Your self-esteem is closely linked to your self-concept. Characteristics that contribute to self-esteem and self-confidence include honesty, integrity, and responsibility, and respecting the dignity of others. Write this in your workbook somewhere.   10. Personality Test: Take the personality test on pages 23-26. • (Answer the following questions somewhere • on page 26.) • Do you think this personality test was accurate? Why or why not? (1-2 sentences) • Circle 3 personality traits you agree with. Compare these to your list that you created earlier in class. Are there similarities? Cross out 3 traits you disagree with. Why do you disagree with these traits? • Why would it be important to know both your strengths and limitations?

  11. Personality Square Imagine that the only way you could introduce yourself to someone you didn’t know was to hand them a square piece of paper. What would you put on the paper so they would be able to describe your personality? TURN IN YOUR SELF-PORTRAIT BEFORE YOU LEAVE CLASS TODAY!! Draw/decorate your personality square so that it reflects you. Think about colors, patterns, pictures that would describe you. Must be school appropriate! DUE: Wednesday 9/19
