  5. Drinks and foods • You will notice that this country has a lot of different foods from different countries. Some musts that you have to try while you’re over there: Dutch; How about a herring with onions. Usually sold on the market. It’s definitely something you should try. Turkish; You can get Turkish food everywhere. The best way to buy it is when you see them selling it on the street. Choose for Doner Kebab. Indonesian; For Indonesian, go to the Asian Taste in West Amsterdam. Try ‘Nasi’. It’s white flavored rice with any kind of meat/fish, and your own amount of hot sauce. Surinamese; Tjauw Min, Roti, Saotosoup or vegetarian Loempia’s. Albina is a very good restaurant to try this kind of food. If you don’t wanna have a hard time trying to find all those places, just go to the Albert Cuyp Market. It’s the busiest and most famous outdoor market in Europe. Especially popular on Saturdays. There are over 300 stalls.

  7. Things to do • Anne Frank house Visit the most famous house in The Netherlands. Learn about the experiences of the Jews in Amsterdam during World War ll. These are just feelings of one person, imagine how the rest felt. • Rijksmuseum The Rijksmuseum (English: State Museum) is a Dutch national museum in Amsterdam located on the Museumplein. The museum is dedicated to arts, crafts and history. It has a large collection of paintings from the Dutch Golden Age and a substantial collection of Asian arts. • Keukenhof Visit the most beautiful spring garden in the world. • Shopping Amsterdam is the city of antiques, books, diamonds, and curiosities. In general, shopping hours are from 1-6pm on Mondays. 9/10am-6pm on Tuesdays through Fridays. Late night shopping is on Thursdays till 9pm. Since many roads in the center are closed to cars, it makes it pleasant for shopping. You will still find busses, trams, taxis and bicycles.

  8. Sitting at the terrace Especially after a day of shopping, it’s very comforting to just go to a terrace, order a drink and talk to whoever you’re there with, watch people and have fun while listening to the music in the background. It’s a very common thing for European people. • A bike ride Bicycling in Amsterdam is a way of life for most Dutch people and still the best way to get around. There are dedicated bike paths throughout the city and few hills to conquer. Bike rentals are for € 8,- a day with discount for longer rentals. • Cruise on the Amsterdam canals The number of canals have led Amsterdam to become known as ‘The Venice of the North’. A canal tour can be both fascinating and relaxing by day and romantic at night. • Amsterdam Windmills You don’t even have to leave Amsterdam to go see the windmills. Everything is literally at your doorstep or just a short bike ride away. There are in fact 8 windmills in the heart of Amsterdam.
