Presentation Synopsis • This presentation will focus on the process of defining value add objectives that drive business performance.  • Developing objectives must be done as a fully integrated effort with annual business objectives.  • This involves a global and strategic approach with top management and includes business leads and functional support departments to ensure alignment with the company’s mission, vision, quality policy and strategic business plans.  • QA, business management tools and methods also play a key part in defining objectives

Purpose of Setting Annual Objectives • Is to establish objectives (or initiatives) that support and align with the top level business objectives/strategy and improve operational performance (revenue, profit), effectiveness and efficiency (e.g. customer satisfaction, processes, systems, personnel).

Purpose of Setting Annual Objectives • To achieve the strategic Mission of the company!! • Mission: Defines the fundamental Purpose of the Organization • Vision: outlines what the organization wants to be • Annual Objectives: the annual tactical plans to achieve the vision….the “WHAT”,“HOW”, “WHO”!!!

QMS Requirement for Objectives • 5.1 Management Commitment: Top Management shall provide evidence of its commitment to the development and implementation of the quality management system and continually improving its effectiveness by • Establishing the Quality Policy • Ensuring that quality objectives are established

QMS Requirement for Objectives • 5.4.1 Planning-Quality Objectives • Top Management shall ensure that quality objectives, including those needed to meet requirements for product (see 7.1a), are established at relevant functions and levels within the organization. The quality objectives shall be measurable and consistent with the quality policy
