  4. BEARING STYLES CBC AUTOMOTIVE RK • Three styles of RWD solid axle bearings. • Ball Axle Bearing • Straight-Roller Axle Bearings • Tapered-Roller Axle Bearings • Lubricated from differential or packed with wheel bearing grease at time of installation. Page 166-167C

  5. BALL AXLE BEARINGS CBC AUTOMOTIVE RK • Held in place by metal retainer bolted to the end of the axle housing. • Seal is inside of the axle bearing. Page 166 Figure 7-46

  6. STRAIGHT-ROLLER CBC AUTOMOTIVE RK • Held in place by a C-Clip in the differential case. • Seal is on the outside of the bearing. • Bearing is lubed from differential.

  7. TAPERED-ROLLER CBC AUTOMOTIVE RK • Held in place by metal retainer bolted to the end of the axle housing. • Two seals one inside of bearing, one outside.

  8. IRS AXLE SHAFTS CBC AUTOMOTIVE RK • Two types of independent suspension: • Swing Axle • Single Joint • Camber changes with suspension travel. • Independent Rear Suspension • Camber doesnot change with suspension travel. • Two Joints • Axle bearings are similar to FWD. Page 168-169C

  9. MAINTENANCE CBC AUTOMOTIVE RK • Use correct lube type: • GL-1, GL-2, GL-3, GL-4, GL-5. • Posi-traction differentials require a Limited-slip additive. • Transaxles may require: • Gear oil • Motor oil • ATF Page 169C
