Computer Room Air Conditioning Unit

The performance of servers and operating systems is dependent on cooling support, as these systems change, the cooling needs to change as well. Trusting a service provider who looks at the overall critical infrastructure of your computer room is needed. Data Center Cooling systems that meet the needs of IT heat loads have very difference service and maintenance needs than systems designed for occupant comfort.

  1. Computer Room Air Conditioning Unit AComputer Room Air Conditioning (CRAC)Unit is a device that monitors and maintains thetemperature, air distribution and humidity in a computer room or data center. As more equipment is squeezed into IT spaces, it is more important than ever to ensure that each component of the support infrastructure is operating at maximum efficiency and reliability. The failure of a CRAC unit can lead to downtime, which of course means a loss of service and that can translate into a loss of money and often times a loss of customers. Best practices for maintaining a data center CRAC unit". This article reviews several best practices that are important for maintaining your data center CRAC unit. Here are some of the items it covers: Cooling is too critical to leave to chance Fear of intentional cooling shutdown What CRAC unit maintenance should entail

  2. Taking care of mechanical items The importance of refrigerant levels, electrical testing Making time for external maintenance There are a variety of ways that the CRAC units can be situated. One CRAC setup that has been successful is the process of cooling air and having it dispensed through an elevated floor. The air rises through the perforated sections, forming cold aisles. The cold air flows through the racks where it picks up heat before exiting from the rear of the racks. The warm exit air forms hot aisles behind the racks, and the hot air returns to the CRAC intakes, which are positioned above the floor. Be sure to take a look at the article, it offers some great information in regards to maintaining your Computer Room Air Conditioning units.
