Hayes Name of plant discovery: The Fur Coat Flower When plant was discovered: November 16th, 2010 Where discovery took place: The Hayes Lab, Centennial CO Description-Environment: The Fur Coat Flower lives in the Alpine Life Zone, this means it has to be prepared for serious snow falls and high winds, so it has a fluffy animal patterned coat acting like it’s petals. Leaves: This plant has no leaves because if it did they would simply be ate by animals or broken off by severe snow storms. Stems: The Fur Coat Flower has a strong and sturdy stem that can hold up the plant in any weather and it has a poison in it that can kill any animal that consumes the flower. Roots: There is something very special about the Fur Coat Flower because it has it’s own pool of water that it collects in crystals beneath it’s roots, it’s longs roots collect that water from the crystals to nourish for lunch. Flower-Seeds: It’s seeds are very diminutive can sprout a flower within 9 days , if you look very closely at the seed you can see that it has a animal pattern on it that will later become the petals of it.
