AFES Meeting: April 2014 Station Hotel, Guild Street Wednesday 2nd April 2014, 6.00 PM for 6.30pm Flow-Conditioned Permeability Modelling Graham Davis - Premier Oil Abstract: Flow conditioned permeability modelling is a method of permeability and productivity prediction optimised on the impact of flow performance rather than the simple numeric minimisation of statistical error.  Poro-Perm Relationships defined with the end-product (flow calculation) in mind should give better performance in dynamic flow simulation. Further History Match tweaks may still be required – but along with applied in-situ air-to-liquid corrections –  the starting point should be much better. This work highlights the importance of capturing the high perm heterogeneity and the need to preserve this for as long as possible through the modelling process before the geologist loses it all in the up-scaling and then has to add “noise” back with cloud transforms! If your Petrophysicist gives you the traditional “statistically correct” y-on-x log-linear transform…..be very wary ! Biography: Graham is the Chief Petrophysicist at Premier Oil, where he is responsible for petrophysics across the company's global interests. He is particularly interested in productivity prediction, thin-bed analysis and saturation height modelling. Graham has over 25 years of experience, and prior to joining Premier he was Chief Petrophysicist at CNR, Local Petrophysics Network Leader at BP and previously held positions, both in the UK and internationally, for Shell and Enterprise Oil.
