Ethical Considerations in the Model Industry: Upholding Employee Rights and Dignity

This assignment sheds light on the ethical dilemmas faced by models in the fashion industry. It discusses the exploitation of young girls as mere commodities, focusing on the disregard for their basic human needs and rights. The narrative uncovers the harsh reality faced by models, separated from their social support networks and treated as a means for profit maximization. Through the lens of employee rights, it advocates for a more humane and ethical approach towards models in the industry.

  2. Gina Introduction - “Employees are subject to a strict managerial rationale of minimizing costs and maximizing the efficiency of the resource” • Model industry is one of those business areas where employees are treated as human resource only. • Girls (12+) are recruited on the street and attracted with fame and wealth. • Once recruited they get confronted with a world of commerce where their body is the mean to success and their human needs are neither from interest nor respected. The girls live separated from their social network and model agencies are treating them along the gain-maximization principle rather than taking care of them
