Footwear Plain black footwear only No open toe shoes or flip flops. Please help us help you by putting names in all clothing.

  11. Doors open at 8:45am (8:40am if rainy) Registration is at 8:55 am, pupils are expected to be at their desks for this time, having handed in any letters and hung up their coats. Doors close at 9:00am, after this pupils should use the office door. All monies and letters should come to class (not the office) as Mrs Watts keeps this information. With the exception of large amounts of residential money. Walking to school / remembering letters and kits should start to be their responsibility. Routines

  12. PE is usually on Thursday & Friday. Children need full PE kit on these days. Earrings must be taken out or covered by a plaster during PE. Routines Mrs Mander, Mrs Pickering and Mrs Morris will be teaching Art and MFL on a Wednesday afternoon.

  13. Behaviour Rewards Stickers Star of the week Star Points Head Teacher awards for special achievements. Prefects Rule reminder Ask Warning Time Out card During this time the children go to the dinning hall and complete work set. This is recorded. If a child receives 3 Time Out cards you will be informed and support will be put in place.

  14. Healthy School We are a healthy school which means we aim to educate the children about healthy lifestyles and diet. The aim to support the child in making positive choices. What do we do? Allow children to have water throughout the day to rehydrate. Sell healthy snacks such as jellies, fruit and yogurt at the Tuck Shop Learn about what it means to be healthy and what makes a balanced diet. What we ask you to do? Provide a water bottle Provide a healthy snack or 20p for the Tuck Shop Not to bring in sweets for birthdays and holidays. We are a nut free school.

  15. It is expected that most children will make between 1 and 2 sub levels progress over an academic year. The national expectation is 1 levels progress every 2 years. Age Related Expectation nationally at the end of Y6 is 4c/4b Parents Evenings / Invitations into school to look at your children’s work. Progress

  16. Reading Ideally 4 times (20 mins) a week. Borrow books from Library or school. High Value Targets Continuous practice of number skills. Quick fire responses Ways to Support Spellings Children will be split in to different groups based on their current knowledge and understanding. Children will have 10 words which are based on a rule or pattern and these will be given out on Monday. Children will then be tested on Friday. The children will record their score and highlight any words they struggled with, to learn over the weekend. If they learnt the spellings easily, encourage your child to think of additional words which fit the rule.

  17. Homework Trial New to this year. As a result of the parent consultation. Aims: Develop independent study skills Time management Ownership of learning Homework will take the form of a learning log. Homework will be given on the second week of each half term. The length of the project will vary dependent on the task. In Year 5 & 6 the homework will involve the children doing some research on…… Then as the year progresses the projects will consist of some core tasks for example a labelled sketch and a set of instructions etc.

  18. Please don’t keep them to yourself. We have an open door policy please arrange a time either before or after school to discuss any concerns or things we need to know. Who do I see first? Ways to get Involved PTA – Fundraising and home and school projects Parent Forum – way to feed into school policies and practices through setting agendas to be discussed and work to improve the partnership between parents SEN Forum – to develop school policies and practices specifically for parents with children who have additional needs Happy Reading – Parents who come into school to listen to readers Leading Clubs – if you have a skill / interest Parent Task force – Parents who come into school to do mounting, laminating, cutting etc Volunteers – come and work in school and support the teacher and class Interested?
