  2. How do I set up and install my DCS-5020L Step 1: Download and the install wizard for your camera from http://www.mydlink.com/support Step 2: Launch the install wizard: •Step 2.1 : Select a language from the drop-down menu and click Start.
  3. Step 2.2: Accept the End User License Agreement by checking the box next to “I accept these terms and conditions”, then click Next. Step 2.3: Follow the on-screen instructions to connect your camera to your router and connect the power. Click Next after you have completed each step.
  4. Step 4.4: Confirm that the LED on the front of the camera is lit solid green.
  5. Step 4.5: Select your DCS-5020L using the radio button from the menu on the left-hand side of the camera name. Enter and confirm a new password for the administrator account in the fields provided. This password will be required when logging in to the camera’s web-based configuration interface. Click Next to continue.
  6. Step 4.6: Using the radio buttons, select how you wish to connect your camera to your router for normal operation. You can choose to connect using a wired Ethernet connection (Ethernet cable), using Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS), or by selecting an available wireless network. Click Next to continue.
  7. Step 4.6.1. If you selected Ethernet Cable connection, follow the on-screen instructions to connect your camera to your router using a wired connection. Once completed, click Next to continue the wizard.
  8. Step 4.6.2. If you selected By using Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS), follow the on-screen instructions to connect your camera to your wireless router using WPS. Once completed, click Next to continue the wizard. Note: Your router must support WPS Push-button Connection (PBC) in order to use this method.
  9. Step 4.6.3. If you selected By Selecting a Wireless Network, choose an available wireless network from the drop-down menu. If you do not see your wireless network in the list, click Rescan to search for wireless networks again. If your network requires a password, enter it in the Wireless password field. Click Next to continue.
  10. Step 4.7.1: In order to use the cloud features of your camera, you will need to add it to your mydlink account. If you do not have a mydlink account, you can create one at this step. To add the DCS-5020L to your existing mydlink account, select Yes, I already have a mydlink account, then enter your mydlink account username (email address) and password in the fields provided and click Next.
  11. Step 4.7.2: If you selected No, I want to sign up for a new account, enter the information required for account registration in the fields provided. Check the box to indicate that you accept the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy for mydlink cloud services. Click Next to continue.
  12. Step 4.7.3: If you selected I don’t want to enable mydlink cloud service, you will not be able to use any of the cloud services associated with your camera. Click Next to continue. Step 4.7: Setup is complete. A summary page with display your camera’s setup details, as well as your mydlink account information. Click Finish.

  14. Why can’t the installation wizard on the CD find my network connected camera This problem can be caused by a firmware upgrade on your camera. Please go to http://www.dlink.com/support to download the latest version of the setup wizard which supports your camera’s current firmware version.

Step 4: To change the administrator password, enter the existing administrator password (leave blank if you have not changed it from the default), and enter a new password in the New Password field under the Admin Password Setting section. You will need to type the new password again in the Retype Password field. Step 5: Click Apply/Saveto save the configuration.

Step 1: Open a web browser and enter the IP address of the camera in the address bar (default is 192.168.0.20). Press Enter. Step 2: The default username is admin and the password field should be left blank. Click OK.

  44. How do I mount my camera to a wall or ceiling Step 1: Place the mounting bracket where you want to position the camera and use a pencil to mark the holes. Step 2: Depending on the material of the wall or ceiling, use proper tools to drill two holes or screws where you marked. If the wall is made out of concrete, drill the holes first, then insert the plastic anchors to support the screws.
  45. Step 3: The power and Ethernet cables can be concealed behind the mounting bracket. Run the cables through the back of the mounting bracket, securing them with the built-in guides. Be sure to leave enough cable length protruding from the top to allow connection to the camera. Step 4: Fasten the mounting bracket to the wall using the screws provided.
  46. Step 5: Using the supplied thumbscrew, fasten the camera to the mounting bracket. Connect the power and Ethernet cables to the camera. Step 6: Adjust the angle of the arm on the mounting bracket as required. Tighten the thumbscrew to lock the arm in place.

What can I do when Active X fails to install during my mydlink camera setup Step 1: If you have any software firewalls installed (Norton, McAfee, Kaspersky), try temporarily disabling them and running the wizard again. Step 2: Ensure you are running the latest setup wizard. Please visit http://mydlink.com/support to download the latest version for your mydlink camera. Step 3: Check your web browser settings. Ensure that the security level is set to Medium-high or Medium. (If set to High, temporarily lower until setup is complete) Step 4. Check also if your computer is using any proxy server. Step 5. Reset the camera and try to install/run again the wizard.
  48. How do I configure Internet Explorer to allow ActiveX Controls Step 1: Open Internet Explorer browser. Step 2: Click the Settings icon and then Internet Options. Step 3: Click on the Security tab, select Internet, then click on the Custom Level button.

Note: Enabling settings will block your ActiveX Installation, Note: If you have antivirus or firewall programs running, make sure they are not blocking ActiveX controls from being downloaded or running. Using mydlink Web Portal: Step 1: Log in to your mydlink account at http://www.mydlink.com

It is useful for monitoring a large network of up to 32 cloud cameras Step 1: Launch the D-ViewCam console.   59. If a camera does not support UPnP, you can manually add a camera Step 1: Click Insert to manually add a network camera that is on your Local Area Network (LAN). The IP Camera Video/Server Setting window will appear.
  60. Step 2: Enter the following network information for your camera: • Name - Enter a name for your camera. • IP Address - Enter the IP address of this camera. If you want to use a domain name, then check the DNS box and enter the domain name. • HTTP Port - 80 is the default port. • User Name - Enter the administrator user name for this camera. • Password - Enter the administrator password for this camera. • Protocol - Select TCP, UDP or HTTP. Enter the following device information for your camera, or click Auto Detect to detect the vendor and model information. • Vendor - Select the brand name from the dropdown menu. • Camera Model - Select the camera model from the drop-down menu. • Video Channel - Select the video channel you want to assign the camera Step 3: Click OK to add your camera.
  61. How do I set up motion detection and recording in D-ViewCam Step 1: Launch D-ViewCam and click the Schedule Configuration icon. Step 2: Select the camera(s) you want to apply the recording schedule to, create a schedule and click Configure.
  62. Step 3: Under the Mode menu, select Record on Motion. Step 4: Under the Original Video view, click and drag to draw a box or multiple boxes to determine the area(s) that you want to monitor for motion. You can also use the sliders to determine the Sensitivity and Frame Interval for motion detection. Step 5. Click OK to close the Encoding Options and click OK again to close Schedule Configuration

  65. How do I set up scheduled recording in D-ViewCam Step 1: Launch D-ViewCam and click the Schedule Configuration icon. Step 2: Select the camera(s) you want to apply the recording schedule to, then create a schedule and click the Configure icon.
  66. Step 3: Under Mode, ensure Always Record is selected. Step 4: Under the Time section, specify the time when you want the recording to occur and click OK. You can also determine how many seconds you wish Pre-record and Post-record for when motion is detected. Note: If you want to record audio, be sure to check the Record Audio box under the audio section. Step 5. Click OK to close the Encoding Options and click OK again to close Schedule Configuration.

  68. Note: A red circle will appear in the top right corner of each camera with recording configured. This indicates that it is recording.

What are the system requirements for D-ViewCam 3.x To ensure your D-ViewCam surveillance system can maintain high video monitoring and recording performance, certain minimum system configurations are required. Note: Recording video over a long period of time will consume large amounts of disk space. Make sure that you have enough disk space available if you want to use the recording function. You can still complete the installation even if you have less than the suggested free disk space, but your ability to save recordings will be limited to the available disk space remaining after installation.
  70. Why can't I see the video from my camera on D-ViewCam Issue:
  71. FIX: Ensure that you have entered the correct IP address of your D-Link camera, along with the correct user name and password (if they have been configured). Also check that the camera is powered on, and that the connection between the camera and your network is functioning correctly. Step 1: Launch D-ViewCam and click General Settings > Setting > System Setting.
  72. Step 2: Click on the Camera tab, select your camera, and click Config.
  73. Step 3: Confirm the following: •Correct IP address is entered •Correct User Name and Password •Correct Vendor and Model are selected Click OK The camera should now be displayed.
  74. Why there is no sound on D-ViewCam recording playback Step 1: Launch D-ViewCam and click the Schedule Configuration icon. Step 2: Click Configure.

  77. Step 5: Check the option “Enable Audio on Active Channel” and click OK.
