This whitepaper presents the reference implementation of an open-source lexical parser, syntax parser, and semantics checker compliant with IEEE 1603-2003. The implementation serves as a validation tool for ALF, revealing only minor issues for errata publication. Additionally, it features a bidirectional translator between ALF and industry-standard library formats like Liberty™, demonstrating that Liberty library model semantics are fully represented in IEEE 1603-2003. Future plans include publishing errata, expanding ALF capabilities with new Liberty extensions, and exploring ALF's application in radiation hardness.

Created open source ALF reference implementation IEEE 1603-2003™ compliant lexical parser, syntax parser, and semantics checker Reference implementation serves as spec validation Uncovered very few minor issues that can be published as errata Also implemented bidirectional translator between ALF and de-facto industry library formats such as Liberty™ Found that the semantics of library models expressed in Liberty are fully encompassed in IEEE 1603-2003 Study of ALF applicability to new fields such as radiation hardness Whitepaper by Alex Zamfirescu IEEE 1603-2003 got IEC accreditation WG1603 update
Plans moving forward • Publish errata and application notes • Futher work on ALF reference implementation • Implement new Liberty extensions (e.g. ECSM, CCS) • Implement radiation hardness extensions Note: These extensions do not require a revision or change of IEEE 1603-2003. They can be implemented as a library of models described in ALF
