  3. Design issues JT service Oy would benefit from design solutions for: • a lighter bigger boat/float • an all round profit bringing • easier to store • cheaper and easier ways for transportation • expand customer base by expanding its services

  5. Qualities • Light, strong, it doesn’t need special tooling • Controlled buoyancy • Wide range of specifications e.g. stronger epoxy outer layer outside, lighter inside • Very stable qualities and a long life • It can machined with other materials: plastic skin or aluminium extrusions

  7. High-impact and abrasion resistant coatings Available in high-visibility orange or yellow Highly taylorable

  9. Modularity • 2 separate pontoons • Sliding structure to be used as a platform • Modular sizes; easy to customize dimensions • Easy to transport and store • Easy to assemble on site • Smaller winches can handle the assembly

Some calculations • For a length of 9m a width of 1.5 meters the combined weight of 2 pontoons is only approx. 500kg.( water displacement=27cubic metres • The capacity is of a minimum 20 tonnes • The platform weight (bridge structures) • Aluminium with steel grade strength will make the platform lighter and stronger: under 100kg

Costs • Manufacturing : • syntactic foam: approx. 16 €/kg • Tooling (manufacturing hire facilities + syntactic foam ) = approx 10,000€ • Aluminium extrusion ramps + platform (manufacturing hire facilities + aluminium)= 5,000€ • Design work: 200 hours @ 6,000€ • Patents: 3,000€ • Engines: 2x 14,000€ = 28,000€ Other costs (transport, advertising): €2,000 TOTAL per item = approx. 54,000€

  16. Other potential usages • Dredging: cutting reeds • Ferry service: for transporting vehicles (cars, motorbikes,…) • Hiring / Loan service • Scuba diving platform • Bridge repairing
