Discarding Obsolete Texts Only discard textbooks declared obsolete or superseded by new materials. Options for Discard: • Donate to: • A governing board, county free library, or other state institution • A public agency or institution of the United States • A nonprofit charitable organization • Children or adults in California, or foreign countries for the purpose of increasing the general literacy of people • Sell to secondhand book vendor • Must be approved by the Instructional Resources & Materials Dept. • Instructional materials must be declared obsolete by District. • Send to IMC for resale/recycling • See the recently updated Administrative Procedure 2805 for details.
