  1. WORK PROGRAMME COMMITMENT STRATEGIESAND TRENDS Dr.V.K.Rao

  2. BID EVALUATION CRITERIA *No score advantage for short duration

  3. MANDATORY AND OPTIONAL ACTIVITY LEGEND: OL & SO : ONLAND AND SHALLOW OFFSHORE DW : DEEP WATER

  4. ACTIVITY TYPES OF WORK PROGRAMME

  5. CALCULATION OF SCORE FOR WORK PROGRAMME COMMITMENT *Score is capped

  6. CALCULATION OF SCORE POINTS FOR EXPLORATORY DRILLING OF WELLS (For all phases) **Multiplying Factor for Bathymetry for Deep water blocks

  7. TECHNICAL ASSESSMENT • A brief writeup on Regional geology and geologic set up of the Block • Structure contour maps/Time maps at identified horizons • Prospects/Leads mapped • Their areal extent • Prospective horizons • Envisaged Petroleum Systems • Reservoir evaluations • Reserves estimates with probability analysis • Geological modelling perceived • POS and Risk analysis • Anticipated geological uncertainities and risks • Anticipated subsurface pressures • Prospect Ranking (Qualitative)

  10. COMPUTATION METHODOLOGY OF BID SCORE (For the onland block)

  11. STRATEGY PARAMETERS • Regional Geology and Exploration history • Area of the block ,Logistics & topography • Seismic grid and coverage available • Vintage and quality • Wells information in the block and around it • Geological modeling Contd.

  12. STRATEGY PARAMETERS (Contd.) • Prospects and Leads Prognosed • Hydrocarbon volumes estimated • Risk analysis and POS • Balancing act in totality of exploration • Investments vis-a –vis work programme • Technoeconomic scenerios evolved • Marry it with fiscal strategy • Competition perceived • “Out of Box” Thinking

  13. TRENDS TO BE SEEN WHILE MAKING BIDS: • WORK PROGRAMME OF WINNING BIDS IN THE PREVIOUS ROUNDS IN THE ADJACENT BLOCKS • STATUS OF PROGRESS OF WORK TO DATE IN THESE BLOCKS • ACQUIRING KNOWLEDGE PARTNERS • VISION • STRATEGIC ALLIANCES AND GLOBAL PARTNERS • CREATING PARTNERSHIPS

  14. STRATEGIES :POINTS TO PONDER • Remember that the TWT/Structure maps of DGH can be broadly taken as ‘feelers’or” teasers” • It is in the interest of bidder to construct his own maps and assess the sanctity of interpretation or improve/change as per the interpretative skills and geologic perceptions • Similarly, the hydrocarbon estimations for the block are one of the critical parameters to aid arrive at a management decision. This aspect is critical as the production profiles are drawn for the field life, economics are worked out and finally the economics of business

  15. STRATEGIES:POINTS TO PONDERContd. • Strategies can be block specific, area specific and sometimes competitor specific • Know the socio-economic and political climate of the region • Since no ring fencing provision exists in PSC, strategies can be formulated for different blocks bid judiciously with a good mix of risk-reward perceptions • Partnerships:remember it is >quarter century relationship • Visionary outlook and Business ambitions

  16. SOME ADAPTABLE POINTS IN WORK PROGRAMME IMPLEMENTATION & HOLDING AREA • Any additional work programme over and above the committed work programme is mostly welcome with the approval of competent committee . • Equivalent 3D Data API in lieu of 2D Seismic Data API committed. • Increase in number of wells with shallower depths based on prospectivity of mapped horizons in lieu of deeper wells committed. • Retention of greater area at the end of each phase based on discoveries made and reservoir limits established. • Allocation of additional area based on demonstrated Reservior limits subject to its availability. • An appraisal programme at the end of Exploration period of 7 or 8 years could be given an extension of 18 months(onland & shallow offshore) or 30 months(Deepwater) with the approval of Competent authority.

  17. THANK YOU & Good Luck
