9/11. By Deep Patel. Day of Terror. September11, 2001 is a day most people will remember. About 3,000 people died on this day and more than 6,000 injured. Twin Towers. In New York City (NYC) destroyed in 2001. They were the tallest buildings in the world when completed in 1972.

  2. Day of Terror • September11, 2001 is a day most people will remember. • About 3,000 people died on this day and more than 6,000 injured.

  3. Twin Towers • In New York City (NYC) destroyed in 2001. • They were the tallest buildings in the world when completed in 1972. • The North Tower was slightly taller than the South Tower.

  4. Pentagon • The Pentagon is the center of the US Department of Defense. • Largest office building in the world • Hit by AA Flight 77

  5. Twin Towers Collapse • The 2 towers collapsed 29 minutes apart. • The North Tower was hit first and fell after the South Tower. • The South Tower was hit second and at an angle. • They were hit at different floors.

  6. The Other Attacks • UA Flight 93 was aiming for the U.S. Capitol building or the White House. • A portion of the wall in the Pentagon fell after impact of AA Flight 77. • Some heroes aboard Flight 93 took control and brought the plane down.

  7. Memorials • Memorials were placed in NY, D.C., and the crash site. • One is at the place where the twin towers once stood. • Another is placed near the Pentagon. • The last one placed at the crash site.

  8. Reactions and Remembrance • Heroes on 93 weren’t the only ones. People from New York and Washington also helped save lives. • Every year on 9/11 names are called out. • Some risked their lives to save other people. • This day will always be remembered.
